Man lists car for sale immediately after crashing it
Details are few but hereâs what we know so far:
A Dodge Challenger met with an accident on what seems to be a wet highway
The owner takes some photos, presumably for insurance purposes
He then lists the car for sale, using the same pictures, on Facebook Marketplace
For only $3,000, you get a:
10-year-old Challenger with 150,000 miles
The engine is still intact
For reference, a 2014 Challenger R/T in fair condition goes for about $6,300.
Hereâs the listing if youâre interested in buying it (and good luck to you).
$3 million classic car barn find
Unfortunately, this barn find doesnât have the best story:
Canadians Robert Bradshaw and Gary Leblanc were arrested for vehicle theft and fraud by the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police)
After a month-long investigation, the stolen vehicles were found in a barn
The police haven't released a detailed list, but from the images, itâs clear that theyâre classics
Over 16 cars were found, and are worth an estimated $3 million
Weâre not sure what will happen to these cars, but we hope theyâre auctioned off and restored.
Hyundai sued over child labor
The U.S. Department of Labor has sued Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama after an investigation revealed the company employed a child.
A 13-year-old girl was working 50-60 hours per week on an assembly line, making body panels
The staffing company sent the child to SMART Alabama, a component manufacturer for Hyundai
The government however alleges that all 3 companies, the staffing firm, the component manufacturer, and Hyundai are to blame for jointly employing the child
Companies cannot escape liability by blaming suppliers or staffing companies for child labor violations when they are in fact also employers themselves.
The historic Geneva Motor Show is dead
It was first held in 1905, attracting over 17,000 visitors and had 305 exhibitors.
Over the years, it grew to become one of the most prestigious and popular car shows in the world.
Sadly, after a century, the show will end, at least in Geneva.
After a 4-year hiatus, the show failed to make a comeback in 2024, hence the decision to move to Qatar.
It has to be said that the lack of interest shown by manufacturers in the Geneva Salon in a difficult industry context, the competition from the Paris and Munich shows which are favored by their domestic industry, and the investment levels required to maintain such a show, sound the final blow for a future edition
1. Race ends in a pile-up
8 sports cars were allegedly racing on a highway in Georgia, and ended up rear-ending each other.
2. Monster truck clips power line mid-jump
Several spectators were injured after the âCrushstationâ monster truck clipped a power line during a jump.
3. Precariously perched M4
The driver of the M4 lost control of the car and crashed into a bicycle stand in London.
He fled the scene after leaving the car perched on the rear wheel.
CyberTruck gets a CyberTrailer
Before we dive into the details of the CyberTrailer, note that itâs made by a company called the Living Vehicle, and not Tesla.
The CyberTrailer can generate several gallons of its own water from the surrounding air using the companyâs Watergen tech
It also has solar panels to power the trailer, as well as charge up the EV
The trailer is compatible with a host of EVs, as well as combustion-powered vehicles.
Deliveries will begin in 2025
While interested parties can join the wait list for just $100, the trailer itself costs a whopping $175,000. đ”âđ«
For reference, the CyberTruck range tops out at $101,985.
Is Tesla doomed?
Well, the CEO of Lucid and Teslaâs investors seem to think so.
Tesla was truly at the cutting edge developing the most advanced technology with a clarity of vision and purpose and an absolute singularity of mindset. And what Iâm seeing now is a worrying trend towards a sort of distraction.
Thereâs an interest in social media, even politics, and itâs kind of losing its way. I donât see it having that singular sense of purpose, and I think it really falls to Lucid to take the technology to a whole new level now.
Teslaâs value has also dropped by 30% in this year alone
Of the 18 mutual funds that held Tesla stock since 2019 (the year Tesla stock was the highest), only 5 have acquired more shares, while 10 have offloaded stock
Some investors though, have faith in the robotaxi program raising the stock price
I think the story is over, is the best way to say it.
Rapper color-matches his Cybertruck
Houston rapper Trae tha Truth got his Cybertruck to match the rest of his collection, consisting of a Mercedes Maybach GLS and S-Class.
We donât have too many details, other than the custom job was carried out by 713 Motoring, and the 26-inch wheels are from Forgiato.
Gas cars are still a preferred option
The chart above is pretty self-explanatory, but here are some additional facts:
This study was conducted on a tiny group of 1,100 people, so itâs possible that the overall U.S. population may have a different opinion
Weâve only completed Q1 for this year, and EV sales are steady for now
Consumers are comfortable with what they knowâright now, that is renewables and fossil fuels. While this may sound like a paradox to some, it points to the messy reality that is the energy transition.
Until consumers see a reduction in EV prices and robust charging infrastructure, it seems that the transition to a full EV future remains messy.
