T(VIN)ing: Like Father Like Son

3 years ago, Dad Jerry Moroko snagged a pristine 2008 E92 M3 six-speed manual in Alpine White.

It wasnā€™t just his dream car; it was his sonā€™s too.

Last year, Matthew (son) decided to get one - a black E92 M3 with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

It was the perfect counterpart of his dadā€™s car, like yin and yang. ā˜Æļø

But the story is about to get even betterā€¦

Just recently, the son discovered that both their cars were just one VIN apart - His car was PY42209, while his dad's was PY42210.

It's a one-in-a-million chance that the two cars bought 3 years apart, that too second-hand, ended up being in the same family. šŸ¤Æ

The Dubai Police Force Has Competition

The Italian police force, or Polizia di Stato, has introduced a Lamborghini Urus Performante to its fleet.

Besides doing high-speed chases, it will also be used for urgent medical tasks like transporting organs and plasma.

Hereā€™s what makes it unique compared to a regular Urus Performante:

  • A unique cargo compartment houses a defibrillator and a portable fridge for transporting organs

  • Inside, thereā€™s special switchgear and an armored weapons box

  • A slender LED light bar provides 360Ā° of illumination

  • A two-tone police siren to alert the offenders (in case the V8 isnā€™t loud enough) and a special livery

Everything else, including the engine, remains stock.

I got curious about cool police cars.

Check out what Greece is rocking šŸ˜†

Who are they catching with this thingy???
Pretty sure I can get away from them with my bicycle haha!

The most badass-looking
Mini Cooper!

Are Mini Coopers popular in the US?

In the UK, theyā€™re everywhereā€¦ And theyā€™re boriiiiiing!

But not this one šŸ‘‡ļø

This one is based in Alaska and you can watch the tiktok here

Weā€™ll be keeping an eye out for this one and hopefully show it to you in action!

Thissssā€¦Is Doug DeMuro Jr.

Our favorite car reviewer Doug (Dad) DeMuro just had another baby.

Dougā€™s ā€œquirks-and-featuresā€ themed reviews have become a trademark, and the comments section on his post did not disappoint.

If you havenā€™t checked out his channel already, Iā€™d recommend starting with his latest video.

1/ Cybertruck gets rescued by Ford Super Duty

Via mchambers_22 on Instagram

Another feather in the Cybertruck hatā€¦of fails.

A Tesla employee took a pre-production Cybertruck to gather a downed Christmas tree.

Buuuut it couldnā€™t make it back up the hill šŸ¤”
So it had to be rescued by a passing Ford F-series.

What made matters worse:

  • the Cybertruck had all-terrain tires that werenā€™t aired down

  • the ā€œlockersā€ werenā€™t usable because of a software issue

  • and it didnā€™t have any pickup points or recovery points on the front.

Oh well šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

2/ Cop pit maneuvers undercover cop

I had to watch the video twice to see whatā€™s happening but well worth it - this side swipe was something like in the movies!!!

Not sure what the story is but the undercover was going pretty quick! Can see the full clip here (itā€™s short)

3/ Marc Marquez almost takes out Zarcoā€™s foot

This is not one from this week but I saw a facebook page showing crashes of the year and this one was featured.

So lucky that nobody got seriously hurt.

Zarco (pictured) couldā€™ve easily lost his leg.

1/ Tesla to recall nearly every car built in the U.S.

2 million cars!

Thatā€™s how many are affected by Autopilot safety issues.

The system is supposed to give a warning if you take your hands off the steering wheel and turn off completely if multiple warnings are ignored.

Except Teslaā€™s didnā€™t.

Thatā€™s why you could see videos of Tesla drivers jumping in the backseat, leaving the driver's seat vacant while the car cruises down a highway.

The recall would be to patch this bug.

Luckily, it will be sent to all 2 million vehicles over the air (OTA), rather than having to get the vehicle to the workshop!

2/ Tesla Model 3 comes last in the German reliability report

Image via Alexā€™s Universe on YouTube

TƜV is the German equivalent of a roadworthiness assessment organization.

They carry out tests on cars in Germany every 24 months to make sure theyā€™re road-legal.

A recent report showed that Model 3s faired the worst in the ā€˜2-3 year old carsā€™ segment.

The reason?

  • Problems were frequently noted in the conventional braking system, which testers say is probably due to a heavy reliance on regenerative braking

  • The suspension system would also wear out frequently owing to the strain of carrying heavy batteries

This report however is in stark contrast to one released in May by Germanyā€™s ADAC, which stated that the Tesla Model 3 is one of the most reliable cars in Germany.

If youā€™re thinking of buying a Tesla, it might be a good idea to check out these reports

3/ Ford cuts down production on EV production thanks to low demand

The EV market has slowed down recently, causing Ford to re-evaluate its production plans for 2024.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Only 1,600 F-150 Lightning trucks will be produced per week instead of 3,200 (thatā€™s a 50% reduction)

  • A battery factory under construction in Michigan has been downsized

  • 400 dealers had already dropped out of Fordā€™s EV program

CEO Jim Farley blamed high prices and inadequate charging infrastructure for the growth slump.

4/ Tesla adds a new lock sound - a screaming goat

Rubber Ducky, Jingle, Old School Horn, Applause, Goat, and Quack.

Yep, those are the lock sounds Tesla owners will be able to choose from with the recent software update rolling out next week.

Other updates include:

  • A nav system that can show the location of speed cameras

  • Rear seat passengers can play games on the rear screen as well as connect Bluetooth headphones

  • A ā€œHigh Fidelity Park Assistā€ function that creates a three-dimensional view of your surroundings

So the next time you hear a goat bleating in the city, fear not; it might just be a Genius Operating A Tesla (GOAT)šŸ˜†
