Brad Pitt’s F1 movie is one of the most expensive films ever made

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Justice League

The 3 movies mentioned above cost around $300 million to produce, and rank in the top 12 most expensive films ever made.

Apple is producing an F1 movie that stars Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Lewis Hamilton, and others.

But its cast isn’t the only reason production has reached the $300 million mark.

  • The film features modified F2 cars driven by the actors themselves

  • Training and insurance for the actors also had to be considered

For the film to succeed, it will have to make $600 million or more after its release.

French campaign tells men to
‘Drive Like A Woman’

There’s actual data to back this up…

  • A French road safety observatory shows that men statistically pose a greater risk behind the wheel compared to women

  • Men are responsible for 84% of fatal accidents, 75% of serious injuries, and 93% of drunk driving accidents in France

The study was done while factoring in the ratio of men to women drivers.

A similar study done in the U.S. in 2019 also had similar findings.

Games, videos & browsers being added to Android Auto

Over 40 vehicle models already have Google built-in, and now the tech giant wants to add games and video playback to more vehicles that are equipped with Android Auto.

  • Games - Angry Birds, Max, and Peacock

  • Video playback - Google Cast

  • Other apps - Uber Driver, and other weather apps

Are we entering into an era where your car is as useful as a computer, almost? 👀

Lamborghini uses regular drivers
to test supercars

Here’s what you need to know:

  • They have 3 sets of drivers with varying skill sets - pro drivers, engineers, regular Joes

  • If the lap time difference between the drivers is too large, the chassis setup is tweaked

I’d prefer to lose a bit of outright lap time ability in the hands of a pro driver to make an ordinary driver go faster and have more fun.

Rouven Mohr - Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer

It’s good to know that the company is making its cars more fun to drive for the average person…

Now if only they could make them more affordable too 🫣

We’re exploring a synergy with a potential partner.

Ford creates a torture test for the Mustang Mach-E Rally

In 2022, Ford’s product planners were asked about the possibility of building a rally-inspired version of the Mach-E.

They added new wheels and off-road tires to an existing Mach-E to find out.

2 years later they’re launching the Mach-E Rally at $59,995.

Here’s what makes it different:

  • A 500-mile rally course was built specifically to test the EV

  • The car was tested for an equivalent of 10 years’ worth of monthly rallycross racing

  • The Mach-E Rally’s ride height is up by 1 inch

  • The shocks and springs have been re-tuned for rally driving

  • New gloss white 19-inch wheels clad in Michelin CrossClimate2 tires

Biden raises Chinese EV tariffs to 100%

The White House says China is flooding the market with cheap goods and it poses a threat to American economic and information security.

  • The tariff on imported Chinese EVs quadrupled from 25% to 100%

  • Tariff on lithium-ion batteries and battery components was also increased from 7.5% to 25%

  • Tax applied to photovoltaic cells, minerals, and semiconductors was also raised

China was not happy with the move and had this to say…

This will seriously affect the atmosphere of bilateral cooperation. The United States should immediately correct its wrongdoing and cancel the additional tariffs imposed on China.

Hospital refuses parking to a
man driving an EV

Here’s what went down:

  • Freeman Powell had an appointment for his son at the Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, UK.

  • He was greeted by a “No Electric Vehicles” sign outside the hospital

  • The security guard told him that his EV’s battery could “react” with the metal car park causing it to “catch fire” or even “explode”

  • The father had to comply and park outside as he didn’t want his son to miss the appointment

  • He then expressed his frustration on social media

Tesla Cybertruck crashes

No prejudice. It’s just interesting to see how this uniquely built truck handles crashes.

Now we know…

This first one crashed into a ditch.

And here’s the aftermath of the accident.

This second was t-boned by a Ford Edge, and both drivers had minor injuries.
