A fitting send-off for the Chevy Camaro
THE EXORCIST

The bad news: the iconic Camaro is being retired next year.

The good news: the legends at Hennessy Performance Engineering are creating the ultimate Camaro!!

Camarao ZL1 - the Exorcist

What makes the Exorcist Camaro different from the standard ZL1?

  • A comprehensive suite of engine upgrades

    • Horsepower increase 650 hp → 1000 hp

Some of the specs:

Paying for a Ferrari
with crypto??

Ferrari will allow customers to pay with cryptocurrency.

In the past, many auto companies steered clear of crypto.

Why?
Because of the:

  • volatility

  • improper regulations

  • high energy usage.

So what made Ferrari change their mind?

"This will help us connect to people who are not necessarily our clients but might afford a Ferrari”

Ferrari's Chief Marketing officer

We think he’s referring to the younger generation who’ve amassed wealth with crypto.

Fun fact: lambos are a lot more popular with crypto traders.
I wonder if Lamborghini will also start accepting crypto payments 🤔

Are we going
back to the future??

What comes to mind when you hear DeLorean?

I bet it’s this beauty below 👇️

What if I told you that this legend is making a comeback???

The daughter of John Z DeLorean says the new model will be built to honor her fathers legacy.

It will be mid-engined and based on the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette.

Why this is extra cool! 👇️

“Mr DeLorean spent 17 years working at GM and once served as the head of Chevrolet where he pushed for a mid-engine Corvette.”

Very excited to see how this will turn out!

Are turbofan wheels
the new wheel trend??

I didn’t know what turbofan wheels are until I saw this.

So I’ll start with some context.

What do turbofan wheels even do??

➙ They improve aerodynamics and channel cooling air towards the brakes, while generating some down-force

Sounds pretty cool, huh??
Here’s how they look like 👇️

on the front

The problem with turbofan wheels?
They’re expensive 😭

So why not make your own??

That’s what the team at Vonka Racing has done

If this trend continues, I’m confident that there’ll be people creating these for retail.

I love creative people, so cool!
I hope these guys do well.

🍿Fails🍿

1/ A water-cooled Porsche 🙃

Someone needs to give Tavarish a call for this one. On the bright side, at least the ceramic coating has done it’s job. 😌

2/ Dodge Challenger can fly, float, and sink.

Cars in general aren’t well known for staying afloat.

Luckily, this Challenger did - long enough (around 2 mins) for the driver to safely escape before it sank. 🚢

3/ Stellantis & Ford lay off another 1,250 workers because of UAW strike

Total number employees on temporary layoff:

Ford: 2,480
GM: 2,300
Stellantis: 1,340

There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for the strike 😔

4/ When the racecar driver is a fan of Cars

Remember that scene in the Cars where 2 racers ended up on top of each other?

Well…it happened in real life 😆

The only thing missing was Lightning McQueen jumping over them, tongue hanging in the air 😛

⚡️EV⚡️

1/ The cost to repair a rain-damaged Tesla battery?

Any guesses?

$1000? $2000?
Maybe even $4000, knowing Tesla?

Nope…

The cost to repair for a Tesla battery - $21,000.

I am just as shocked (pun intended) ⚡

Here’s the kicker.

Water ingress is not covered under Tesla’s warranty.
Now the owner has to pay out of his own pocket! 😱

No further details at this point.

Our colleagues at Jalopnik cover the story in more detail + there are 70+ comments on the topic.

2/ Corvette E-Ray - As good as a Porsche for half the price

How does the E-Ray compare to a 911 Turbo S?

I’ll just let the stats do the talking.

Corvette E-Ray

Power: 655 hp → 15 hp more than the Porsche

0 - 60mph: 2.5 seconds → 0.1 second faster that the Porsche

¼ Mile: 10.5 seconds → same as the Porsche

Starting Price: $104,900 → $100,000 cheaper than the Porsche

Fun fact: the Corvette engineers used a Porsche 918 as the benchmark to develop the E-Ray.

So which one are you choosing?

I’m picking the Vette any day of the week.
You??

3/ Google will now help choose the right EV for you

Some of the things Google’s new feature can do:

  • Quickly compare prices, battery range and discover models

  • Find government incentives for qualifying vehicles in the U.S. (Germany & France will be added soon)

  • A Fuel Cost Calculator to help drivers understand the cost of charging compared with filling up at the pump

  • Battery range explorer that shows how far you can go with a specific model car on a single charge

  • Customize a route to see how many charges are needed along the way

4/ 1 out of 2 EV owners want to buy an ICE as their next car

Yup, half of the EV buyers that participated in this study said they wanted their next car to be have internal combustion engine. None of them were Tesla owners BTW 😌

But why?
The top 3 reasons for NOT purchasing an EV were:

  • Pricing

  • Infrastructure

  • Range

I’ve spoken with a few EV-owners and all of them say “it’s good for city driving”. They all prefer a non-electric car for longer journeys.

😆Memes 😆

1/ Do you call yourself a mechanic, bruh!? 😤

I know some of you be changing your blinker fluid every 2 weeks 🤣

2/ Work smart, not hard

3/ Rich people problems

That’s it for this week! I’ll see you again on Monday 👋
