VW Names the New T-Cross Color
ā€œRubber Duckyā€

Volkswagen released a poll to the folks in the UK, asking them to choose a name for the 2024 T-Cross.

ā€œLemon Meringue, Honey Harvest, and Buttercup Breezeā€ were the other contenders.

But ā€œRubber Duckyā€ won 46% of the vote.

The Product Manager at VW UK replied with a rather punny statement.

ā€œSome might say putting a paint name to public vote is a quackers idea, but we were confident people wouldnā€™t get in a flap while trying to decide on a new name, and we think Rubber Ducky yellow was a really egg-cellent choice.ā€

Residents Sue
Laguna Seca Raceway

Laguna Seca is a race track located in California.

1021 Monterey Salinas Hwy, Salinas, CA 93908, USA

The reason for being sued?
Itā€™s too noisy and creates traffic.

Apparently, the track is rented 340 days of the year.

Itā€™s unlikely that the lawsuit filed by this self-proclaimed ā€œsocial welfare organizationā€ will stand though.

Interesting facts:

1/ The track was constructed in the 1950s, way before any residents moved in

2/ It brings in a lot of revenue to the county - around $246 million

Ford V8 to Reign Supreme

Thatā€™s right!

With iconic cars and engines being killed off or electrified, Ford plans on keeping the V8 revving for as long as regulations allow.

A lot of our competitors have left. Theyā€™ve come and gone. We never did that. Weā€™ve always been there with Mustang. 60 years, and itā€™s changed over time.

And if weā€™re the only one on the planet making a V8 affordable sports car for everyone in the world, so be it.ā€

Jim Farley, CEO of Ford

1,700 HP in a Dodge Challenger

Tuning legends Hennessey will turn your Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 into a 1,700 HP hypercar-defeating monster car.

Hereā€™s what you need to know:

  • Hennessey will swap the stock 6.2-liter V8 with a brand-new bespoke V8

  • It will use twin turbochargers instead of a supercharger (no more iconic whine)

  • Quarter mile times will go from 8.91 (stock) to 7.9 (faster than the Nevera @ 8.25 seconds)

  • The original engine will be preserved should you want to go back to the stock drivetrain

  • Only 12 cars will be built under this program; the first will be John Hennesseyā€™s personal car

Absolutely loving the US car culture.. I wish Jaguar or Triumph would do something similar in the UK

1/ Subaru WRX Gets Ripped in Half by Snow Plow During Failed Overtake

Overtaking at a curve = Bad

Overtaking a semi at a curve = Worse

Overtaking a semi at a curve while itā€™s snowing = STUPID

P.S. The drivers of both vehicles are fine.

2/ Airport security truck crashes into a parked Airbus A320

Thereā€™s no news as to how this happened yet as the driver is being treated for minor injuries.

But how do you not see a giant aircraft in front of you?

3/ Need for Speed style chase gets ended

Iā€™ve only seen stuff like this in video games, wow.

Look at how he just hooks him, incredible.

A police officer on the right jumps out after that and pulls out a gun.

No shooting thankfully but these scenes are crazy to me.

4 / Driver caught for evading $20k worth of tolls with this trick

Someone took inspiration from a certain 007 movie.

Unfortunately, it didnā€™t end well for the driver.

āš”ļøEVāš”ļø

1/ EV batteries will require a passport in 2027

Hereā€™s a rundown:

  • Only applies the European Union

  • The passport will be in the form of a QR code or VIN

  • It will provide details about the supply chain and source of the battery materials

  • It will cost between ā‚¬7 ($7.60) and ā‚¬12.80 ($13.95) per battery, although this will likely be borne by the supplier

The aim is to keep track of how EV batteries are made and ensure that sustainable methods of mining are used.

2/ Tesla launches a new boat?

No, noā€¦

Thatā€™s just a Model 3 undertaking a move that would be catastrophic to an ICE car (like the stranded VW Beetle).

While it is a testament to the waterproofing aspect of the EV battery, itā€™s still risky and could cause damage.

3/ An EV everyone can afford

Fan of Hyundaiā€™s N Vision 74?

Well, you can buy oneā€¦albeit as a 1:10 scale radio-controlled version.

You can do everything - drive, drift, do donuts in this one too, except sit in it.

Itā€™s around $370, but only available in South Korea for now.

We will update you as soon as it hits U.S. shores.

4/ More bad news about the Cybertruck

A pair of AWD Cybertruck owners have completed over 10,000 miles since taking delivery, and have experienced many problems.

  • Their Cybertrucks only managed an average of 206 miles (estimated range is 340 miles) on a fully-charged battery

  • Recharging takes a lot of time:

    • Gen 3 Tesla wall connector - 8 to 12 hours

    • V2 Supercharger - 2 hours

    • V3 Superchargers - more than an hour to get to 70%

  • Factoring the charging times with the low range, youā€™re looking at frequent stops on a road trip

  • Other downsides were the road noise and the lack of a waterproof vault, despite the claim

Iā€™ve linked the detailed report by the owners below.
