Rare Nissan GT-R50 goes up for auction

50 of these higher-performance special editions were planned to celebrate the Nissan GT-Rā€™s 50th anniversary.

Thanks to the pandemic, only 18 were ever made.

One of the cars never got sold and was stored with only 119 miles.

Besides the custom exterior by Italdesign, it features a tuned version of Nissanā€™s 3.8-liter V6 engine and bespoke wheels.

Itā€™s expected to fetch between $1 and $1.25 million, around the same price when it was launched in 2021.

Watch how itā€™s hand-built in the factory in Japan.

Man steals money from banks..
then buys 240 cars

Najeeb Khan, 70 years old, has been handed a 97-month jail sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion.

He gave himself a $150,000,000 loan which he used to buy 240 cars, amongst other things.

Some notable mentions in his collection are:

  • 1963 E-Type Lightweight

  • 1952 Ferrari 225 S Berlinetta

  • 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400S

  • Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Zagato

  • 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

The entire collection was auctioned off by RM Sothebyā€™s for $44 million.

How someone can just get a $150m dollar loan is beyond me šŸ¤£

Muscle cars banned at
Texas Coffee & Cars

Weā€™re all aware of the stereotype - Mustangs leaving car meets are a recipe for disaster.

So in order to prevent any untoward incidences from happening, the Coffee & Cars event in Texas banned certain models of muscle cars from attending.

A statement posted on their instagram šŸ‘‡ļø

I wouldnā€™t blame C&C for their decision, as reckless drivers tend to stain the reputation of such meets.

Although the ban is temporary, owners of said muscle cars have hit back at organizers for being ā€œsoftā€ and ā€œhating domestic car driversā€.

What do you think?

Is this your chance to
drive at 800 mph?

Grafton LSR, the team behind Bloodhound, is looking for someone to drive their car and break the existing 763.035mph world record set back in 1997.

You do not need to be a racing driver or fighter pilot. The selected driver will be trained by Andy Green (who set the record in 1997).

What you do need to be is rich - the driver will have to pay some amount of the $14.77 million required to undertake the record run.

Driving at the speed of sound in a straight lineā€¦sounds easy, right?

1/ Deer-me!

Jay Vaughan was sat in his house waiting for the buyer of his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD to arrive.

As soon as he did though, disaster struck!

A deer leaped over the parked car and landed straight on the bed of the Silverado, leaving a sizeable dent.

Jay had to reduce the price of his formerly mint truck from $9,400 to $8,500 to compensate for the damage.

Talk about luck..

2/ Shortcuts donā€™t usually end well

A driver of a Chrysler 300 made an attempt to drive on the sidewalk to avoid a construction site. Bad idea!

Besides the self-inflicted damage on the Chrysler, public property and a parked car were also damaged.

3/ ADAS = Avoid Dumb Actions & Stupidity

Advanced Driver Assistance System - thatā€™s what ADAS stands for.

Unfortunately, some idiots think the first word is ā€œautonomousā€. Or maybe theyā€™re just plain stupid, like the driver above.

The system is designed to work only under certain conditions provided the driver is still in control of the vehicle.

4/ How not to transport an almost $1 million rally car

2 ways the situation could have been avoided:

  1. Properly secure the rally car to the tow truck

  2. Use the red follow car to stop the rally car rolling down the hill

1/ Rimac Nevera now holds the Guinness World Records title for the fastest speedā€¦ IN REVERSE!

Back in 1967, the Lamborghini Miura became the fastest production car in the world by crossing the 170mph mark.

As of 3 days ago, the Rimac Nevera broke that recordā€¦but driving backward at 171.34mph

This is another feather in the cap for the Nevera, adding to its long list of records.

2/ A final farewell to Ken Block - Electrikhana Two

Electrikhana Two was filmed late last year, just a few weeks before we lost the motorsport legend Ken Block, in a snowmobile accident.

The dual-motored Audi S1 Hoonitron makes a return, shredding its tires on the streets of Mexico City.

The full video will be released in December, but a teaser has been released. Iā€™d suggest grabbing some tissuesā€¦ šŸ˜¢

3/ Matte black Tesla Cybertruck spotted. Yay or nay?

Tesla's Chief Designer was spied driving a wrapped Cybertruck.

While it may fix the stainless steelā€™s reflection and fingerprint issues, general build quality problems continue to plague the Cybertruck.

Even the wrap was not applied properly.

According to some people, the only thing worse than a Cybertruck is a matte black Cybertruck. šŸ˜¬

Hereā€™s a full breakdown of the encounter.

4/ Is the EV hype slowly dying?

It might be.

  • Tesla announced that it is slowing down plans for a new Mexican factory, citing financial reasons

  • Honda and GM have scrapped a $5 billion joint development that had affordable electric SUVs as its main agenda

  • Ford announced that production of the F-150 Lightning would be temporarily slowed down, and investment would be redirected into its commercial and hybrid vehicles

  • Prices of raw materials used in EVs have dropped sharply due to low demand (lithium by 67% and cobalt by 20%)

ā€œJust like the fully autonomous cars that we are all supposed to be driving by now, EVs are just going to take longer to become mainstream than media would like us to believeā€

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda

Was Mr. Toyoda right?

šŸ˜†Memes šŸ˜†

Porsche bullies Tesla

A rude move by the GT3 RS driver? Or was the Tesla in the wrong for driving slow in the fast lane?

Either way, that 4.0L flat-six sounds glorious.

When you donā€™t take your Jeep out to play in the snow

Aaand thatā€™s it!

I will either see you on Monday (depending on how the votes have gone) or next Friday.

Wishing you a lovely weekend!
