The future of the Ford Mustang
With muscle cars being killed off or turned into EVs, it begs the question - will fun, affordable cars exist a few years from now?
Ford CEO Jim Farley has some good news for us…
On future Mustang models:
We will never build a Mustang that isn’t a Mustang. For instance, there will never be room for a small, two-row Ford SUV with a Mustang badge stuck on it. Some people think we could mix Mustang with off-road driving – look at what Porsche has done with the 911 Dakar, and what Lamborghini has been doing [Huracan Sterrato]. But I’m not so sure about that
On expanding the Mustang line-up:
Could we explore other Mustang body forms – such as a four-door or similar? I believe we could, as long as these models possess all the performance and attitude of the original.
On an electric Mustang:
One thing I can promise, however, is that we will never make an all-electric Mustang. I look at other users of pure-electric power such as Formula E, and even companies like Rimac, and I just don’t think that would be right for Mustang. Great for other Fords – look at the worldwide success of Transit – but not for Mustang.
In other Mustang news…
Over 7,500 people (U.S. & Canada) applied to buy the $325,000-plus Mustang GTD in just 37 days
That’s 5x higher than Ford’s planned production
As such, further applications are closed in the U.S. and Canada for the next 2 years
Ford is planning to set the ‘fastest American production car‘ lap record at the Nurburgring, after debuting at Le Mans in June
If the GTD is not on your radar, this 850-hp supercharged Ford Mustang Dark Horse by Hennessey might be of interest.
New bills in California
Pay Per Mile
California is the leading nation when it comes to EV adoption. However, this means that the state is losing money earned from gas taxes
It makes $300 in tax from every gas-powered vehicle
To counter this, a 6-month pilot program has been started to charge drivers for every mile they drive in an ICE or EV
What this means 👇️
Participants need to install a device in their car that tracks their mileage or submit before and after photos of the odometer
They’ll also receive $400 for participating in the program
If the program manages to bridge the funding gap, it’ll become a law
Speed Limit Warning Beep
Senator Scott Wiener has proposed a bill that would require vehicles to provide a visual and audio signal if the driver goes 10 mph over the speed limit
50% of passenger vehicles, trucks, and buses would be required to comply with the regulation by 2029, and all vehicles by 2032
The bill narrowly passed its first test in the Senate, but it’s unclear if it will become a law
Hennessey Ram TRX vs. Corvette Z06
Here are some stats before we get to the drag race:
Stock Ram TRX | Ram TRX with Mammoth 1200 package | Corvette Z06 | |
---|---|---|---|
Engine | 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 | 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 | 5.5-liter NA V8 |

Torque (lb-ft) | 650 | 969 | 460 |

Kei trucks are illegal, but golf karts are fine in Rhode Island
Image via Carscoops
Here’s the rundown:
Rhode Island is asking kei-vehicle owners to turn in their registrations
This is despite the law which makes vehicles over 25 years old legal to import and own
They claim the reason for the law is safety-related, but golf karts are still street-legal
1. FSD fail
A Tesla Model 3 driver narrowly avoided a collision with a train while in FSD mode.
He managed to take control at the last second after the vehicle failed to stop, possibly due to the poor visibility conditions.
2. “You can’t park there”
The drunk driver of this Toyota Camry not only drove the wrong way on a bridge, but also managed to drive on the pedestrian walkway and then get stuck.
3. How not to win a drag race
Not many details are available besides the fact that this GTO had over 3000+ hp.
(also, did anyone see what happened to the Mustang?👀)
Chevy Camaro could return as an EV
Soon after they announced the end of the Camaro last year, officials told us "While there is no immediate successor, this is not the end of the Camaro’s story.”
Now, GM President Mark Reuss said that the nameplate could be revived, albeit as an affordable EV, with a broader appeal beyond enthusiasts.
Little else is known about the car, and expect it to be a while before it makes a return.
But once it does…

No electric supercars yet,
says Lamborghini CEO
In our last few issues, we’ve highlighted the slowdown of EV sales.
Electric supercars have taken a hit too, with Rimac struggling to sell its Nevera.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann further voiced his concerns, stating that EV sportscars lack the “emotional aspect” of their ICE equivalents.
Lamborghini is, however, open to hybrids as synthetic e-fuels, hoping they will prolong the life of internal combustion engines.
Cybertruck mods
In our last issue, we featured a list of Cybertruck crashes.
Today, we’re showcasing two modded Cybertrucks.
#1: Rose Gold Cybertruck
This particular truck was modified by Omar’s Wheels & Tires in Dallas, Texas.
It sports a rose gold chrome wrap with matching 30-inch solid disc wheels from Forgiato.
Forgiato has some other cool modified Cybertrucks on their Instagram page.
#2: Dukes of Hazzard Cybertruck
This Cybertruck sports a Dukes of Hazzard-themed wrap from Teck Wrap.
It costs $415 for a 5×59-foot roll
It sports large ‘01’ stickers as a tribute to the General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger used in the movie series
Blue stickers above the door frame read “General E’
